LOCATION: Wayland Baptist University (WBU) - San Antonio Campus

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Security Monitor serves as the first-person people see when entering the WBU facility at Live Oak, TX. This person proctors all visitors entering the building, ensuring that they have, or obtain, required identification. The proctor will be the first point of contact and will direct visitors to the appropriate offices, classrooms, or other locations throughout the campus. This position also serves as Testing Proctor. If visitor requires testing services in the campus National Testing Center (NTC), the proctor will set these up and monitor them.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:
- Coordinates activities with the Campus Security Coordinator
- Greets all people entering the building to ensure only legitimate person enter.
- Administers National Testing Center exams as needs arise.
- Establishes and implements the unit’s policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with the Campus Security Coordinator, Director of Campus Operations, advisory committee members, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
- Builds relationships with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, corporations and other external sources.
- Helps develop and maintain the University's corporate image and identity.
- Addresses community groups, faculty, and staff members to explain available services.
- Enforces all administration policies and rules governing students and aassists with development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to ensure that the campus and University fulfills the mission.
- Reviews all policies concerning safety and security of all personnel. Serves as a liaison with the Live Oak Police Department if additional resources are needed.
- Assists Campus Security Coordinator with safety and security training and evaluation of staff and faculty.
- Procures, maintains and controls facilities, equipment, keys and other materials.
- Assists in planning, implementing and controlling all non-WBU activities at the campus.
- Coordinates with Campus Security Coordinator concerning safety and security issues.
- Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
Experience and Knowledge:
- Experience in a university administration setting, familiar with all aspects of the da-to-day ins and outs of the lobby and the building area.
- A deep commitment to Christian Higher Education and agreement with the purposes and philosophy of higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and WBU in particular.
- An understanding of and commitment to work with educational programs related to churches, businesses, industries, and the military.
- Understand basic principles of safety and security within a university level building and facility.
- Experience in the area of university level testing
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of all aspects of the operations of a university facility.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
- The ability to communicate effectively.
- Proven ability proctoring exams in a testing center atmosphere.
- Must possess good computer application skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Must be willing and able to develop a working knowledge of the University Power Campus and IQ Web programs.
- Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills.
- Ability to be flexible, prioritize and available to work extended hours as needed.
- Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with others.
- Service orientation – actively looks for ways to help people and solve their problems.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. Employee must be able to work as a team player, work indoors and in an environmentally controlled office area with florescent lighting, and on occasion work outdoors, be exact and accurate, pay very close attention to detail, and have transportation to and from work. The qualified applicant must be able to work flexible hours as needed. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Naturalization Services. Some travel required. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record. The candidate for employment will be subject to a background check and may be requested to take a drug test.
