Marsh Madness

As the NCAA's March Madness basketball tournament comes to a close, springtime excitement at Wayland is just beginning. This approaching season was kicked off Thursday, April 4 as students, staff and Plainview community members gathered at the ‘marsh’ on the Wayland Baptist campus for Marsh Madness.

This event highlighted games of all kinds, including ring toss, Frisbee, nerf battles, spike ball, and corn hole. Across the length of the marsh, there was an array of tables offering drinks and beverages, including cotton candy made by the Wayland Rotaract club, s’mores offered by Wayland’s BSM group, Monster Energy drinks handed out by FCA and various Mexican candies and beverages up for grabs from volunteer groups.

“I had the chance to serve students by helping the BSM serve s’mores!” said Wayland freshman Micah Vega. “Overall, it was just lots of fun getting to serve and talk with others.”

One of these many tables offered photo props such as fun sunglasses, leis, big lips on wooden sticks, and more for fun photo opportunities. To end the festivities, students of all kinds gathered around fire pits, where they enjoyed s’mores and community with one another.

“It was a great turnout,” said WBU sophomore Cole Quinn. “I had so much fun with the FCA group and hanging out with my friends. I can’t wait to do it again next year.”
