PLAINVIEW – Fifty-nine Wayland Baptist University students are scheduled to participate in commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at Hutcherson Center on the university’s Plainview campus.
Dr. Cindy McClenagan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, will present the candidates for degrees to Dr. Donna Hedgepath, President, who will confer degrees. She will be assisted by Mark Jones, chair of Wayland’s Board of Trustees.
Mia Raquel Arceneaux, a graduating senior from Rockwall, is scheduled to give the student address, and Ashlyn Claire Holmes, a graduating senior from Amarillo, will read Proverbs 3:5-6 from the Bible. An invocation will be brought by Laston James Bigham, a graduating senior from Lubbock, and Madison Taylor Casanova, a graduating senior from Brownfield, will give the benediction. Clarissa Rejino, a graduating senior from Muleshoe, will lead the Pledge to the United State flag, and Alex Chad Clements, a graduating senior from Borger, will lead the Pledge to the Christian flag.
Candidates for graduation include two students scheduled to receive doctoral degrees, 19 students set to receive master’s degrees, 37 students planning to receive bachelor’s degrees, and one student set to be awarded an associate’s degree.
There are 46 candidates for graduation from Texas, including eight from Plainview. Among the candidates are nine students from seven other states. Five international students are candidates for graduation.

A graduate reception sponsored by Wayland Alumni Association takes place immediately after the ceremony in the Pete and Nelda Laney Student Activities Center.
